16Pounds: Bowling has never been this fun
That is, if you’ve played 16Pounds, a massively multiplayer online game developed in South Korea and launched in two other countries—China and Thailand.
CDC Games, a business unit of CDC Corporation and pioneer of the free-to-play, pay for merchandise model for online games in China, has recently announced the commercial launch of 16Pounds in Thailand through its local partner, Silver Coins Co. Ltd.
The company is also gearing up for the release of MMORPG Lunia Online in the U.S. market. Ahhh, but that’s fodder for another MMOtaku post. Going back to the topic at hand …
16Pounds is a casual online bowling game with more than 40 unique characters rendered in full 3D cartoon animation. The user interface for 16Pounds is designed for broad audiences, regardless of gender and age, requiring minimal learning or prior game skills. The game has been sublicensed to Silver Coins by CDC Games International. Silver Coins is one of the fastest growing online game publishers in Thailand, and its first online game peaked with the second highest number of concurrent players at the time.
“We have successfully launched our first two games outside of China, including the launch of Minna de Battle last December in Japan, and 16Pounds this month in Thailand,” said Jeff Longoria, president of CDC Games International. “We are also on track to launch Lunia Online in North America later this quarter. With the momentum we are building in China with new games, such as Special Force, and our growing portfolio of games within CGI, we are establishing ourselves as one of the global leaders in online games.”
Here are some game features of note:
Easy to control. Easy controls make users learn the game in a minute (Really?). Whatever you choose, arrow keys and spacebar, or mouse only, that’s all! Now you are ready to be a professional bowler.
Highly uncommon. Various local maps and abundant event maps provide users with new surroundings. A lot of tournaments guarantee different rewards and these will help you to become a world star.
Over 40 unique characters. From kids to adults, there are different characters by age. Many costumes and accessories provide a wide range of choice. Also, exaggerated actions and gestures will give players fun.
Various ball and pin effects. So many variables such as characters, balls, directions, strength, and other conditions.
