Nostale set to charm Malaysia, Singapore

Nostale, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is set to invade the shores of Malaysia and Singapore thanks to the efforts of the GDH Group, whose subsidiary, Gonzo Rosso, has decided to publish the Korean-made game. Closed beta tests have been slated for mid March 2008.
Nostale, or “The Tale of Nomads with Silver Spirits,” is a beginner-friendly MMORPG developed by Korean company Entwell. It features adorable creatures residing in an easily accessible fantasy world. Each player starts as an adventurer who sets out on a quest. As the player reaches certain levels in his or her quests, he or she can choose from a selection of higher level occupations. Another feature of the game is a system allowing players to transform their characters into “specialists” using accumulated points.
At present, Nostale is being operated in five other areas: South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Europe.
A little background about the game:
Nostale features typical MMORPG elements, such as chatting, questing, training, partying, and player shops. For those who are tired of the usual fanfare, however, Nostale offers some unique gameplay aspects.
Specialist Cards
Players can pick from three different classes: Swordsman, Archer, and Sorcerer. Each of the classes may make use of a Specialist Card, either a global one such as the Chicken Card or a specific one to each class, such as the Warrior Card for the Swordsman. When using these cards, the character transforms into a different class with its own unique skill set.For example, a Sorcerer transforms with his card into a Red Magician. From that point onwards, he or she will use a different skill set unique to the Red Magician, thus possessing none of the skills he or she had as a Sorcerer. Every card starts off with a Job Level of 0 (zero), even if the player had job levels for his original class.
As the player uses the card, it will gain its own job levels and gain skills for every even-numbered level. At the moment, all cards have a level limit of 20. A player may remove one card to use another without fear of losing any progress made with the card as the card “memorizes” the job level and skills it has gained. This gives players a certain flexibility to choose a card proper to different occasions.
Story Quests
A unique aspect lacking in most MMOs, and what gives Nostale its “feel,” is its Quest System. Nostale offers a storyline-driven quest system that players can follow through. This storyline is divided into acts, much like the old PC game Diablo II. The story, of course, is driven by the quests players undertake for their characters.Nosmates
Nostale features a Partner System of sorts. Every adventurer can have up to two partners to join him in quests. The first is a pet. Pets are usually animals or monsters that can be found in the game world. They usuall have a net symbol on the bottom of their picture icon to signify that they can be captured. The player must first attack them, and when their life bar turns yellow, players may attempt to capture the animal or monster. If successful, the pet joins the player. Pets, of course, have differing stats and stat growth. The second partner that can join players is referred to as a Nosmate, or a non-player character that accompanies players in storyline-driven quests. There are Nosmates, however, that can be obtained in special raids, such as Princess Sakura.
Let me just shut up and ask you to watch a video that features the game:
