A second serving of Granado Espada

by Joel on February 11th, 2008

A few months ago, I stole something very valuable—time. Not just any “time,” but time—an hour to be exact—spent playing my Perfect World characters just to play rival MMORPG Granado Espada.

Granado Espada holds a lot of promise—it’s probably one of the best MMORPGs in the Asian market in terms of gameplay, graphics, sound and features.

What turned me off and convinced me to abandon the Estranghero Family in the world of Granado Esapada before the Pre-Open Beta Testing phase ended was the game’s business model, which had been pay-to-play.

Today’s Granado Espada is very different from the POBT version. For one, the business model has been shifted to free-to-play. Another “new” (because the last version I played was POBT) feature of the game is the Colony Wars, which pits factions (or guilds or clans) against one another in a bid to secure, well, colonies.

Just yesterday, I reentered Granado Espada and revived the Estranghero Family. I’ll tell you more about my small family’s adventures in this game world in later posts. For now, let me leave you with a video of the game’s Colony Wars. Enjoy!
