Not so Supa anymore

by Joel on March 13th, 2008

SupaSupa Aero Revo

Sigh. Another massively multiplayer online game bites the dust. I’m talking about the demise of SupaSupa Aero Revo in the Philippines. Here’s the official announcement from publisher Z-Zone Online Philippines:

Supah Stars,

We would like to express to you our sincerest appreciation with for your loyalty and for staying with SupaSupa for these past two years. You have been faithful with to the game through good times and bad times, we could never be grateful enough for this loyalty. But in at this point of in time we would like to express regret for closing SupaSupa last March 10, 2008. Z-Zone Online Philippines is launching a new game to enhance, that will surely give you a new challenge and gaming experience.

Rest assured that all your in-game currency will be compensated properly. All of you will be entitled with to our loyalty privileges and other bonuses for Z-Zone’s other games.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you all for keeping up with us. We will see you again with in our other games.

Thank you very much,

SupaSupa Team

For some reason, Z-Zone is in love with the word “with” so I’ve taken the liberty of cleaning up the announcement a bit—just a bit. Anyway, I’m straying from the topic. Hmmm, what’s the topic again? Oh, yeah, the demise of SupaSupa. See how fast it fades from the memory. To think that I’ve written extensively about SupaSupa for a local gaming magazine.

And, yes, I did play SupaSupa for a time. I found it too, hmmm, arcade-y and better suited to players 10 years old and below. The game had its following, though, despite its lack of appeal to the more mature MMORPG market.

Well, here’s a toast to SupaSupa, a game that chose to dump its costume in an alleyway trash bin in exchange for a normal life as a reporter for a New York newspaper. Oops, wrong Supa.

Anyway, if you want to know more about this game, I’m afraid you need to search for it on a search engine. I seem to have lost those stories … and any memory about my adventures in SupaSupa.
