Perfect World Housing System: Not a myth

by Joel on April 14th, 2008

Yes, you read that right. Well, the housing system of Perfect World has been discussed quite a number of times in different forums, but this is the first time I’ve seen the actual system at work. Darn, here I go again shooting my mouth (fingers?) off before explaining what the hell I’m really talking about.

I remember receiving a lot of negative reactions for an article I wrote last year in a local online gaming magazine. The story is, of course, about Perfect World, and the reactions are aimed at debunking some of the features I highlighted.

Two Perfect World features got the brunt of the proverbial rotten egg in the face: the marriage (wedding?) system and the housing system. The existence of the marriage system was proven a few patches ago. It turns out that the Roulaxin, or that strange crystal flower that male avatars dig up for a quest from Shi Liang of Dragon City North, is some sort of catalyst for the marriage system. I have to delve deeper if I am to separate fact from fiction, though.

As for the housing system, I never would have believed it existed if not for a video I just watched. Here’s a copy, courtesy of YouTube and the video’s poster, skubazin.

So, after watching the video, what do you think of Perfect World’s housing system? Personally, I find it interesting but unnecessary. I can probably think of a thousand other ways to spend yuan (gold) or online game credits.
