The real Perfect World International, finally

by Joel on July 15th, 2008

Perfect World International closed beta starts August 19

Yes, you read that right. I’m calling Perfect World North America Perfect World International for the simple reason that it is Perfect World International. Mea culpa on calling Perfect World Malaysia-English as Perfect World International in previous posts.

Well, it’s official: Perfect World International will see the light of day starting August 19. Let’s take a look at the announcement:

Perfect World Entertainment Inc., a wholly owned US subsidiary of Perfect World Co. Ltd., announced today the launch of Perfect World International in North America. While the highly acclaimed 3D MMORPG is scheduled for commercial release later this year, a few lucky individuals will have the opportunity to participate in the closed beta starting August 19th.

Perfect World International is the English-based, international version of Perfect World II. The game itself has been heralded as one of the most successful 3D MMORPGs in over 10 countries worldwide and offers an immersive online world with three unique races and six different classes; all the while maintaining its free-to-play business model. In addition, it boasts one of the most in-depth character creation interfaces known to date, numerous quests full of lore and depth, and an extensive selection of items and fashion.

For PVP (player versus player) fans, Perfect World International hosts something called Territory Wars, a weekly battle where guilds fiercely compete to dominate certain parts of the world. The victors walk away with a great deal of reward in addition to the many added benefits that the conquered territory provides.

“We know that players have been waiting a long time for Perfect World International to be published here in North America, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with all the gamers,” said Dr. Alan Chen, chief executive officer of Perfect World Entertainment Inc. “Our mission is to provide the highest quality of online services to our customers in North America.”

The game’s website has just gone live. Go check it out for more details.

    The real perfect world???Free??
    Hmmm I have my taughts…
I play this game since novembre 2007 and I have a few High lvl chars on EN/MY.
Since I liv in europe we had always lag problems but the last few days its really amazing you chat takes sometimes over one minute to be posted so its not hard to understand that grinding is impossible.
People must realize that PK/open pvp or territorial war is impossible for those not living in the same country where the server is located.
If you are killed PK-ed while grinding you already death while on you screen you are still happy grinding.
Thats one thing.Another is this game is absolutly not free.
If you a hardcore gamer and you dont want to by ingame money with your credit card you can go till around lvl 60, then it becomes impossible.
The advantage for those that buy ingame money is so large that even when you play 16 hours a day, daily for a whole year you wont be able to pay for the stuff you need.
believe me we tried it…the drop rate is so low that when you are a mage for example, you even cant pay for your manapower (mp). what about your gear then.
Some examples your lvl 70 gear cost about 10 milj. ingame gold thats about 20 euro in real money.
lvl 80 gear 60 milj without weapon thats 120 euro in real money.
Lvl 90 gear 150 milj +a lvl 80 to destroy so you cant sell your lvl 70 gear to recup some money.
    Thats 300 euro again…
These are only the costs for your gear not for your HP or MP or for repair , travel…and if you wanne look fancy rides or fashion..
and thats only for one char.
Till now the game cost me about 1200 euro and believe me i didnt bought luxury stuff.
So dont give me that free game shit.
